Rural Idyll
Project Details

The proposed design for this 3,350m2 vacant site in rural Victoria is thoughtfully tailored to the serene country lifestyle sought by a couple to retire into. Recognizing the agricultural context of the area, our design embraces a palette of timber and corrugated building materials that harmonize with the rural surroundings.

Challenges posed by site constraints, including stringent Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) regulations and waterway setbacks, influenced a modest 150m2 floor plate. Despite these constraints, the layout embraces single level living, accessibility, and energy efficiency, aligning with the couple’s needs and future-proofing their retirement. Large windows frame views of the natural landscape, allowing an abundance of natural light to permeate the interior spaces.

This design harmoniously combines contemporary living with rural tranquillity, a testament to responsible architecture in this unique environment.
